Leaving a Legacy - Emile Mathis

The university lost a dear friend when Emile Mathis '68 passed away on July 15, 2012.  Emile was a devoted alumnus, active Foundation Board member, philanthropist to many organizations, and friend to UW-Superior.

"It was a sad day when we learned of Emile's passing," said Vice Chancellor for Advancement Jeanne Thompson.  "Although I'd only known Emile for a short time, it was evident from our first meeting how much he enjoyed his time at the university and how important it was to him to help current (and future) students afford a quality education. "

Emile's legacy will continue into perpetuity.  By establishing two endowed scholarships;  the Emile Mathis Scholarship and the Ronald Mathis Scholarship (in memory of his brother), in addition to financially supporting many other programs and university priorities throughout his lifetime, Emile's generosity will touch students' lives forever.

His dedication to UW-Superior never ended.  One of Emile's last wishes was that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts could be made to the UW-Superior Foundation to support his two scholarships.  What a true testament of his love for - and belief in - his alma mater.

If you would like to make a gift in Emile's memory, please visit www.uwsuper.edu/give2uws or call 715-394-8452 for more information.
